James L. “Jimmy” Weidemann, 68, of Hawkeye, died Sunday, January 6, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye with Rev. David R. Nelson officiating. Interment will be at the Hawkeye Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the church on Wednesday. Friends may make memorial donations to the Hawkeye Fire Department or the Hawkeye Community Hall.
James Lester, son of Lester E. and Velma Boie Weidemann, was born April 18, 1944, at Hawkeye, Iowa. He was baptized May 14, 1944, and confirmed March 30, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. He received his grade school education at Alpha and graduated from North High School in West Union in 1962. Jimmy worked as a carpenter, a farmer, and also at Blessing Industries. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and enjoyed hunting, especially deer, fishing, archery, and stock car racing.
He is survived by two sisters, Edythe (Jim) Daniels of West Union and Betty (Owen) Ott of Fayette; a brother, Daryl (Sanda) Weidemann of Hawkeye; an uncle, Eugene Boie of Hawkeye; a sister-in-law, Bev Weidemann of Sumner; a brother-in-law, Gerald (Anne) Koch of Eldorado; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Koch; a brother, Dale Weidemann, a niece, Jill Koch; and special friends, Alvin Schroeder and Jake Trewin.
